Everyone here is fantastic. You get seen extremely quickly. The appointments are long because they’re much more thorough but it’s worth it because they check for things they don’t at regular dentists. Special thanks to Jess, Stephanie and Alex for answering all my questions and being so patient with me.

Although I am glad this affordable option exists for people without insurance! I was very upset by my emergency contact being called in a panic, and told I needed to contact them immediately, only to discover they were just re-confirming my appointment time and had lost my phone number (after Id been a patient for a year?), but willingly chose not to email me, as I confirmed over the phone that they had my email on file. A lot of excess information was leaked to my emergency contact, who I thought would only be contacted in case of an emergency. The dental hygenist (sorry I don't know the right terms!) was really pushy in telling me I had to take out my piercings for an x-ray and I had to be really firm in my boundary of it not being needed (it wasn't). When I called and talked to them about it for the next appointment, they didn't really seem to care to change their practices or put it in my notes so I wouldn't keep having the same conversation each time 🫠 Not trans friendly in terms of having to really be firm about them actually using pronouns, leaking preferred name to emergency contact, and having Chick-fil-A openly catered in their lunch room lol

I recommend the medical assisting program so much!! The teachers are absolutely incredible ! From start to finish, the entire staff is so encouraging, rewarding, inspiring, and beyond family spirited! They really guide you through the program and help you be successful! Mojda is the absolute best teacher by far! She's such a delight! She is more than concerned with just you as a student, she cares about you as a whole! She cares about your mental health, physical health, emotional health and student health! She will listen to you, motivate you, encourage you to be your very best self and believe in you when you don't believe in yourself! She will guide you through all of your hands-on skills until you are confident and honed your skills!

Everyone I’ve encountered were very friendly and professional. Prices are affordable, however, if you aren’t willing to sit through over 3 hours each appointment then this isn’t for you. As these are dental students providing and performing these services with their instructors’ supervision. I feel that it is worth it, if I can receive low cost dental care plus help future dental assistants/hygienists practice and perfect their skills, I think it’s a win win.

Unfortunately, Pima has a bad rap for some reason I no longer understand after attending Pima for the dental hygiene program for the last 4 out of 6 semesters. The rumors almost drove me away and IM SO THANKFUL THEY DIDNT. I love the teachers, the level of education, how much they care about us as humans, how much they care about drilling the knowledge in your head by use of repetition, how fun they make learning and more. However they are serious (more down to business) when they need to be. My friends went to lake Washington and pierce and other hygiene schools and said they HATED it. I can’t say the same. It is a very difficult program but I know it is so worth it and I do not regret my decision one bit.
